Involvement

In Conwy and Denbighshire the Adult Mental Health Integrated Partnership is committed to involving service users and carers in the developing, planning and monitoring of services.

Service users and carers have valuable experiences that can improve local mental health services for themselves and others.

Below are some of the opportunities that service users and carers can participate in:

  • Recruitment and Selection of Partnership Staff
  • Staff inductions and training
  • Developing, planning and monitoring services
  • Consultation
  • Your own care plan

You can make your voice heard through:

  • Becoming a service user and carer representative
  • Patient councils
  • Service user and carer forums
  • Service user and carer groups
  • Contacting the Service User and Carer Board Members

How to become involved

The Partnership has set up a ‘pool’ of service users and carers  who want to get involved in developing mental health services.  Your details will be kept up-to-date, so you can be told about what is going on in the Partnership  and about new opportunities as they arise plus the regular get togethers.  Any information given by you will not be shared with any other organisation.

Having a database ensures people are involved from a wide range of  backgrounds who have knowledge of using a varieny of services.  Who better to help develop a particular mental health service than someone who has used it themselves!

To become involved, contact:

Hilary Roberts
Service User and Carer Liaison Officer, Unllais

Tel No: 01745 818720 or email: pacd@unllais.co.uk

Support and Payments

To help you fully participate as a service user/carer representative, support is provided in a variety of ways:

  • Access to training
  • Ensuring you have all the information you need to participate fully
  • Access to chat to the service user and carer board members, and Hilary following your involvement role
  • Never been a service user/carer representative before, Hilary can attend a couple of meetings with you until you find your feet
  • Travel expenses and attendance allowance

Why offer payment?

The Partnership recognises the contribution that service users and carers make by offering payment for their time. The aim is to establish a real working relationship between staff and service users and carers based on equality.  Payment is not intended to compromise the independence of service users and carers.

It is the responsibility of each individual to seek guidance from the relevant agencies e.g. Department of Welfare and Pension or local Tax Office, prior to receiving payments as a user/carer representative.
